Animals are companions along the way for us. Most of us feel comfortable talking to our tame household pets - dogs, cats, and birds. They often give us great comfort and bring out the compassionate side of our nature. Even in our cities though, there are a variety of wild animals who communicate with us every day. Are you hearing their special messages for you? Listening to them can make a difference in the quality of your Days. If they are unable to reach you in your environment, they often visit you in your dreams as an Animal Totem. These dreams also have special meaning for you. Following their guidance can often lead to profound positive changes in your life. Webster's Dictionary defines the word "Animal" as, "an individual with a particular interest or aptitude; any of a kingdom of living beings". Animals have been more than totems or power allies to me over the years. They have been good friends watching over me, communing with me, letting me know they cared and shared my concerns for the evolution of the planet and all sentient lifestreams. When I write about the animals, it is from direct experience and communion with them.
They are as much a
constant in my life as humans and the ever present angels. We talk to each other
vocally and telepathically and I thank them daily for being such a blessing in
my life. If they know that you honor and respect them, they will become a
constant in your life as well, either in daily encounters or in your Dreaming.
Like us, the animals are developing their light bodies. Although all the meanings I read about totems or allies in books apply to each animal at one time or another, new meanings that can be attributed to their appearance in your life are increasing exponentially everyday. As each species undergoes their own transformation, they sprout new leaves and branches that dance to creative and innovative rhythms in the winds of change. When I was a little girl my mother asked me with concern written all over her face, "Why do you cry when you see a dead bird or other animal on the pavement but you never shed a tear when you watch war pictures on television and all those people are killed?" I pondered a moment since such a serious question deserved a thoughtful response and then replied, "The birds, squirrels, cats, raccoons, and possums have no choice and they can't defend themselves and it makes me very sad when I see them maimed and killed this way.
When we watch the movies,
the actors are not really being killed and besides those who die in such battles
chose to fight each other when they go to war." (I had my own library card at 4
1/2 so I had an extensive vocabulary when I was a child)...
