There are seven major chakras or energy wheels which have a different number of spokes or petals and hundreds of minor chakras. These centers of focus for our emotional and spiritual energies whirl at varying rates of speed. The etheric, astral, and mental layers of the human aura each have these seven major energy centers but it is the etheric centers that are most closely connected to the health of the physical body. The chakras are connected to each other through channels of subtle energy, the nadis. The main channel is the sushumna which starts at the base of the spine and rises to base of the brain. All of the chakras need to be balanced, open, bright, cleanly spinning, and energized. When they become cloudy, sluggish, damaged, and blocked (with the muddy residual energy of our habits, beliefs, desires, thoughts, fears, and feelings), our physical and emotional health is affected and illness can occur. Clairvoyants report that illness often manifests in the aura and the chakras months and sometimes years before they manifest in the physical body. The color of stones and the sounds of chants, mantras, voice, music, and drums effect the vibration of the chakras and can align and balance them creating vitality, health, and continued growth on all levels.
The universal life force
enters our aura through the crown chakra and is downstepped by the chakras in
turn, each of which transforms the energy to be used for the functions its
oversees. When the kundalini is aroused it rises up the chakra system through
the sushumna.
The Seven Major Chakras are depicted in the diagram above. the Red Root Chakra (First Chakra), the Orange Navel Chakra (Second Chakra), the Yellow Solar Plexus (Third Chakra), the Green Heart Chakra (Fourth Chakra), the Blue Throat Chakra (Fifth Chakra), the Violet Third Eye Chakra (Sixth Chakra), and the White Crown Chakra (Seventh Chakra). The Root Chakra or First Chakra is the seat of the kundalini. Located at the base of the spine at the tailbone in the back and pubic bone in the front, it governs the areas of grounding, self-preservation, survival, instinct, the tribe, past lives, security, safety, the animal nature, the element earth, the Earth Goddess, natural pleasures, realizing the divine in the physical body, transmutation of the body with spirit, anchoring and manifesting our creativity and ideas, the energy to succeed in the material world, the cosmic energy Shakti, the blissful joy center for the physical body, vital energy, and our physical health. Divided by four spokes or petals, it is associated primarily with red but also with brown and black. When the energy of the root chakra is blocked we become fearful, insecure, frustrated, victimized, anxious, have weight problems. Black tourmaline, Hematite, Smoky Quartz, Back and Snowflake Obsidian and Garnet can be used for crystal healing. The Navel Chakra or Second Chakra is the seat of human needs and desires. Located two inches below the navel and rooted in the spine, it governs the areas of friendliness, our gut instincts, confidence in your creativity, blame, control, passion, the element water, fidelity, spontaneity, emotions, how we hold traumas, how we insulate ourselves from the negativity of others, the Moon, Vulcan, intuition, ethics, self worth, energy flow, openness to new relationships, the womb, sexuality, and reproduction.
Divided by six spokes or
petals, it is associated primarily with orange but also with red, and white in
Tantra, and includes the kidneys, bladder, and large intestine. When the energy
of the sacral chakra is blocked we become manipulative, obsessed with sexual
thoughts, suffer energy depletion, constipation, have reproductive organ
diseases, become emotionally explosive, greedy, and anxious. Bloodstone, Red
Jasper, Orange Calcite, Tigers Eye and Carnelian can be used for crystal
healing...
