Bluish green Amazonite is a microcline feldspar with white streaked, stippled patterning or zebra stripped lamellar veining. Recent studies have indicated that the blue-green colour of Amazonite was derived from minute inclusions of lead and water within the feldspar. Amazonite resonates with the thymus gland and chakra which is located in the upper part of the mediastinum behind the sternum and extends upwards into the root of the neck (between the green heart chakra and the blue throat chakra). The two lobes of the thymus gland are joined together by areolar tissue which is a connective tissue that gets both elasticity and tensile strength from a meshwork of interlacing thin fibers. The patterning or stripping of Amazonite resembles the same kind of interwoven connectivity. Named for the Amazon River in Brazil which is one of the locations where it is found, Amazonite carries the qualities of the strong female warrior with the flowing movement of river waters. Other locations where Amazonite can be found include Madagascar, Russia, and the United States.

run high, it is often difficult to express or communicate our feelings to
others, especially with those we are intimately involved with or with close
family members. Holding a piece of Amazonite in your right hand strengthens your
ability to speak calmly from a position of balanced perspective.
Early in the 1960s, they discovered that the thymus gland played an important role in the development of the body's immune system (its ability to resist disease by identifying and destroying foreign substances). Carrying an Amazonite tumbled stone, meditating with one in the palm of your left hand, or having one close by in your living or work environment might help immunize you against the dis-ease created in relationships and daily living when angry, abusive words are used to communicate turbulent emotions rather than calm, cordial terms of expression. Amazonite can assist the reticent emotionally wounded heart to find just the right combination of tonal qualities and phrasing to speak personal truths soothingly yet firmly to those they love, who then are able to receive the message gracefully without feeling the need for a self defensive, retaliatory hail of verbal darts. After holding a chunk of the stone for several minutes and then having it in my creative space for a couple of days, I was able to dissolve communications blocks, several decades old between myself and someone who is very dear to my heart. Before a dysfunctional, pattern of highly charged emotional communications between us kept repeating itself, over and over again. He said that he listened to the words I said to try to heal things between us, to bring us closer together again, but they never felt right to him. He wanted to respond in a positive way but the words seemed to be having the opposite effect, they were pushing him further and further away. The Amazonite help me to bring a soothing balm to the way that I talked to him and the icy standstill blocks between us just melted away.
