The Throat Chakra or Fifth Chakra is the seat of communications. Located in the midcenter of the throat in the V of the collarbone at the lower neck, the Throat Chakra governs the areas of creative self-expression by thought, speech and writing, sound, and the search for truth. The Fifth Chakra is predominate in singers, public speakers, composers, and musicians. The Throat Chakra governs mental creativity, the element of ether, a sense of peaceful strength grounded in divinity, music and artistic inspiration, being true to yourself, and following your dreams. Overall the Fifth Chakra presides over self-expression, telling the truth, your ability to listen to your inner voice, and your feelings of centeredness and balance. Ruled by the planet Mars, the Throat Chakra is where anger is stored and released. Constructive expression of emotions, transformation and healing, knowing, personal magnetism, and the linkage between emotion and thought are all located in the Fifth Chakra. Divided by sixteen spokes or petals, the Throat Chakra is associated primarily with the colour blue but also with the colours white, and smoky silvery blue. The Throat Chakra area includes the throat, thyroid, parathyroid glands, and metabolism. When the energy of the Throat Chakra is blocked you are either critical of others or too quiet. A person with an obstructed Fifth Chakra can be inarticulate, aloof, distant, feel timid, weak, experience or suffer from laryngitis, addictions, ear infections, and neck, throat, thyroid, mouth, gum and teeth problems. When the energy of the Crown Chakra is blocked you feel destructive feelings, a constant sense of frustration, and the need to continue on a perpetual spiritual quest. A person with an obstructed Crown Chakra can suffer from mystical depression, environmental sensitivity, migraine headaches, exhaustion, and energy problems.
